Starting point
Problem identification and research following interaction with local municipal authorities.
A protective face shield that detects hazardous gases and activates emergency oxygen support for municipal and mine workers.
This face shield is designed for municipal workers and people working in mines. It detects harmful gases such as CO, CH3, NH3, NO3, H2S, CO2 and smoke. When a harmful gas is detected, the system isolates the worker from outside air and immediately supplies oxygen.
The problem statement was developed after interaction with local municipal authorities and research into the need for safer working conditions in toxic environments.
The solution combines a protective and alerting face shield with a jacket carrying the electronic system and pocket oxygen cylinders. Oxygen support continues until the worker can leave the exposed area and the system detects that toxic gases are no longer present.
