Starting point
Design.
A retractable drill holder that improves repeatable drilling accuracy at different shank depths.
Machine components sometimes require holes drilled to an exact shank depth, particularly when lubrication must be channelled through the hole. Repeated operations at different sizes demand accurate measurement and consistent quality.
The project uses a spring-retractive drilling-machine holder that supports intermittent drilling while maintaining alignment and depth control.
A lever and retrator mechanism retracts the drill at the end of the operation, supporting boring, grinding and lapping-related applications.
